The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, received today the new head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo – EULEX, Antero Lopes, whom he congratulated on his new assignment and wished him success in exercising his mandate.
The Prime Minister thanked EULEX for its continued contribution to Kosovo, in particular for monitoring the justice system, supporting the strengthening of the rule of law and cooperating with the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.
The meeting discussed the importance of continuing to monitor the performance of justice institutions, as well as the institutional treatment of cases of domestic violence and gender-based violence. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the contribution and monitoring of EULEX in this area, underlining the need for a rapid and coordinated response between the Police, the Prosecution, the courts and other responsible institutions, with the protection of victims as a priority.
Part of the meeting was also dedicated to the security situation and cooperation between Kosovo institutions, EULEX and international partners. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of continuous coordination, information exchange and increased attention to security risks, including the protection of critical infrastructure.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law institutions and expressed readiness to continue close and constructive cooperation with EULEX during Lopes’ s mandate.
