Prishtina, 7 September 2026

The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, hosted Sweden’s new Ambassador, Åsa Pehrson, for a courtesy meeting, having first met her 20 years ago in Stockholm.

The Republic of Kosovo is grateful and appreciative of Sweden’s continued assistance and support for our country and people, both before and after the liberation and independence of Kosovo.

“As a friend of the Republic of Kosovo and one of our five largest donors, with thousands of Swedish soldiers having contributed within KFOR, Sweden became home to many Albanian families from Kosovo, including many Trepça miners who left Kosovo following the miners’ strike in 1989,” said Prime Minister Kurti.

In addition to bilateral relations and opportunities to deepen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, as well as energy and defence, the meeting with Ambassador Pehrson also addressed current political affairs and regional developments.

Ambassador Pehrson said that it had always been her wish to serve as Ambassador to Kosovo.
