Pristina, 27 August, 2026

The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, on Tuesday received a letter from the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham, in response to the congratulatory letter sent upon taking office last month.

Prime Minister Burnham said that the two countries enjoy a close and enduring partnership, while emphasizing that he is proud that the United Kingdom has stood with the people of Kosovo since NATO’s intervention in 1999 to being one of the first states to recognize Kosovo’s independence.

“The United Kingdom will remain a strong supporter of Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations, and we will continue to work to advance Kosovo’s integration into international institutions, including expanding support for its application to the Council of Europe and continued progress on its path towards NATO,” Prime Minister Burnham wrote.

He also said that he hopes for the rapid formation of the new Government, so that cooperation between the two countries can be deepened in areas of common interest, such as defense and security, trade and investment, migration, and strengthening economic ties.
