The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, received the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Ambassador Feridun Sinirlioğlu, in a meeting.

Secretary General Sinirlioğlu congratulated Prime Minister Kurti on his victory in the June 7 elections.

After thanking Secretary General Sinirlioğlu for the visit, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the importance of cooperation with the OSCE for the Government. In this context, he mentioned the contribution of the OSCE mission in Kosovo in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting human rights, supporting the rule of law and assisting in the institutional development of the Republic.

“We want stability, not only in Kosovo, but in the entire Western Balkans. We are convinced that true stability cannot be built through frozen conflicts or political ambiguity. It is achieved through strengthening democratic institutions, fighting corruption and organized crime, and applying the law to all equally”, said the Prime Minister.

Further, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is committed to the principles that unite all OSCE states: democracy, the rule of law, respect for human rights, good governance, accountability and peaceful cooperation, as foundations of sustainable peace and security.

While underlining that over the past years Kosovo has registered one of the strongest reform trajectories in the region, the Prime Minister spoke about sustainable economic development and macroeconomic stability. He mentioned the increase in Gross Domestic Product to 12 billion euros, the increase in public revenues, the first time exceeding the value of 1 billion euros in foreign direct investments, as well as the fact that Kosovo has one of the lowest public debts in Europe.

The Prime Minister, among other things, also spoke about democratic progress, strengthening the rule of law and public security, international assessments that recognize Kosovo as one of the safest countries in Europe. And also about Kosovo’s removal from the list of countries affected by fragility and conflict, of the International Monetary Fund.

Prime Minister Kurti and Secretary General Sinirlioğlu met in early May this year, within the framework of the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan, Armenia.
