Prishtina, 12 October 2026

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with US Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Dick Durbin.
Both senators congratulated the Prime Minister on his new mandate and the election of the President, which restored full institutional stability in the country.

“Senators Shaheen and Durbin have consistently supported Kosovo and contributed to strengthening our relations with the United States of America. I asked them to support Kosovo’s NATO membership, as well as the transformation of Camp Bondsteel into a permanent military base,” Prime Minister Kurti said.

Prime Minister Kurti also spoke about Serbia’s threatening statements, including the open and mutual defence of former authoritarian President Aleksandar Vučić and terrorist ringleader Milan Radoičić.

The discussions with Senators Shaheen and Durbin also covered education reforms, vetting in the justice system, and the establishment of the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets.

Prime Minister Kurti also highlighted the rapid development of the information technology sector, which accounts for 6% of Kosovo’s gross domestic product (GDP).

“Our economy continues to grow by more than 4%, while this government’s new mandate will be marked by railways, dams, the defence industry, and sports stadiums, as we prepare for the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games,” Prime Minister Kurti said.
