Pristina, 29 October, 2026
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, and the Commander of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), Lieutenant General Bashkim Jashari, took delivery of 12 UNIMOG 5T 4×4 military trucks, procured for the needs of the KSF.
During the ceremony—which was also attended by the German Ambassador to Pristina, Rainer Rudolph, and the Head of Sales at Daimler Truck Defence and Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks, Daniel Zittel—Prime Minister Kurti stated that these military trucks have now been added to an existing fleet of 15 Rheinmetall trucks.
“A few days ago, another 8 KX 8×8 trucks, purchased from Rheinmetall, also arrived. With these new additions, the total number of trucks received so far across these two categories has reached 35 vehicles. Dozens more Unimog and Rheinmetall trucks have been purchased and are scheduled to arrive in 2027,” said Prime Minister Kurti.
The UNIMOG 5T trucks are designed to provide mobility across challenging terrain, including unpaved roads and mountainous areas, while the 8×8 Rheinmetall trucks enhance the KSF’s transport capabilities and contribute to strengthening its logistical support. The Prime Minister added that “a modern force is built not only through weaponry and combat equipment, but also through capabilities that enable it to move, be resupplied, and operate efficiently.”
These investments are part of the Government’s commitment to strengthening the defense capabilities of the Republic of Kosovo, in line with NATO standards and with the goal of ensuring the security of the country and all its citizens.
Last Friday, 515 new recruits took their oaths; earlier this week, another 209 recruits began their training; and we are concluding this week with the receiving of 12 trucks.
