Speech by Acting Prime Minister Kurti at the Inauguration of the Zatriq Wind Farm

Zatriq, Rahovec, 10 September 2026

This short but very powerful video showed how much work and commitment has gone into reaching this day. Congratulations once again to everyone.
Honourable Minister of Economy, Ms Artane Rizvanolli,
Honourable Mayor of the Municipality of Rahovec, Mr Smajl Latifi,
Honourable Ambassador of Switzerland to Kosovo, Ms Anne-Lise Cattin Hennin,
Honourable Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Türkiye in Kosovo, Ms Seyda Cimeli Aydin,
Dear partners from Çalık, Mr Ahmet Çalık, Mr Nihat Özdemir,
Dear attendees,
Ladies and gentlemen,

Here in Zatriq, today we are marking an important step for the energy future of the Republic of Kosovo, a future in which energy is increasingly produced from clean sources, while our energy system becomes more secure, more sustainable and more diversified.

Kosovo has great potential for renewable energy. Therefore, as the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, we have taken concrete steps through smart investments in the interest of citizens, but also of the generations that come after us.

The Zatriq Wind Farm is an international investment of approximately €106 million, which will enable the annual production of around 185 gigawatt-hours of clean energy and cover the annual energy needs of approximately 45,000 households.

This park is particularly important for our energy security as well. Every megawatt-hour of clean energy produced here is a step towards a Kosovo that is less dependent on limited resources and less exposed to external energy crises.

Therefore, diversifying our energy sources is a matter of energy policy, our national security and the sustainability of our economy.

To achieve our targets, we are supporting public- and private-sector investments in new generation and storage capacities. A few weeks ago, we were not far from Zatriq, but still here in the Municipality of Rahovec, specifically in Kramovik, to mark the beginning of the construction of the 105-megawatt solar park, which is the result of the auction conducted by the Ministry of Economy. While work continues in Kramovik, here in Zatriq we are celebrating the commencement of operations of the Wind Farm.

With 12 turbines, each with a power capacity of 6.1 megawatts, this park represents a significant investment in modern technology and in our new energy capacities. The park is connected to the grid through the line between the Rahovec Substation and the Zatriq Substation, thereby seamlessly integrating the new energy into our system.

The project is evidence that when public institutions, investors and international partners work together, we can implement projects that have a direct and long-term impact on our country.

Therefore, today I would like to express my gratitude to EV Wind Park, to the partners Çalık Renewables and Eurokos Holding, as well as to everyone who has contributed to the development and implementation of this project.

I also thank the international financial partners for their support, as well as all institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and the professional teams that have worked to make this project a reality.

Today, with this wind farm, we are adding another stone to the foundations of a cleaner, safer and more sustainable energy future in Kosovo. But this will not be the last occasion for celebration. We will meet soon to mark the completion of the wind auction being conducted by the Ministry of Economy for another major wind farm, as well as throughout the major and comprehensive investments in the energy sector of our Republic.

Thank you very much!
