Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri received today in a meeting the Danish Minister for Europe, Nicolai Wammen, who currently also holds the Chair of the European Union Presidency, .
Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri expressed her satisfaction for the visit of Minister Wammen in Kosovo and thanked him for the warm reception she received during her visit in Denmark last month. She spoke of the progress of the state of Kosovo and the reforms that ensure Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic perspective and appreciated the importance of advancing relations between Kosovo and Denmark.
Further, Mr. Tahiri said that Kosovo’s European perspective implies a two-way journey; that of Kosovo towards the EU and the EU towards Kosovo, because Kosovo is implementing European standards on a national consensus and therefore the EU should reach the consensus for a speedy EU integration of Kosovo. Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri also stressed that the EU should have a more strategic approach towards the entire Western Balkans in the spirit of Thessaloniki agenda by not allowing states of this region to become obstacles to one-another.
She noted that the formula for a stable Balkans consists in a region of equal states and nations towards each other and towards the European Union.
From his part, Minister Wammen stated that Denmark and Kosovo have close amicable relations and reaffirmed Denmark’s full support on strengthening the state of Kosovo. He emphasized that his state will support Kosovo’s integration into the European Union and in the Euro-Atlantic community with all that is available as he appreciated the commitment of the Government of Kosovo for the concrete implementation of European reforms. He assured that the EU expansion agenda towards the Western Balkans will be strengthened regardless of the fact that EU is facing with internal and global challenges.
Minister Wammen also stated that the EU is engaged in bringing more peace and prosperity in the region of Western Balkans and for this purpose, it is pursuing the adequate strategies that take into account the equal support for all states. On this event, he underscored that Kosovo’s mature approach towards recent situations and tensions is highly appreciated from the EU and rewards will be concrete in Kosovo’s advancement towards the EU.
