Pristina, June 24, 2026
Honorable Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and Deputy Ministers,
Honorable Cabinet and Media Employees,
Dear Citizens,
I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of three of our young people on two separate occasions in recent days. Sisters, Erza and Aulona Zubaku in a road accident in Germany and Valmir Morina at his workplace in Prizren.
On my own behalf and that of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, I express my most sincere condolences to the families, Zubaku from the municipality of Kamenica and Morina from the municipality of Malisheva.
Honorable Cabinet Members,
Welcome to the 25th meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the first in which we are meeting physically after the early parliamentary elections of June 7.
Allow me to congratulate the citizens on the orderly, free and democratic electoral process.
Kosovo did not need these elections and this result proves this, which we have said repeatedly, before they took place. In any case, the citizens spoke clearly again. The result must be accepted and respected and the will of the people must be implemented and translated into functional and democratic institutions, committed and dedicated to development and welfare, education and health, security and defense, industry and production, major infrastructure investments from railways to dams, and more.
Therefore, as soon as the election results are certified, we will begin work and discussions on the formation of new institutions: the constitution of the eleventh legislature of the Assembly, the formation of the new Government and the election of the president.
Dear citizens,
Almost 27 and a half years after the Recak Massacre, five former members of the Serbian police have been arrested. While on the one hand we congratulate the institutions for the arrest of the suspects after, as was said, a six-month investigation, we cannot help but highlight the fact that until 2020 no one has dealt with this case. Consequently, out of the thousands of cases inherited from EULEX, none were about the Recak Massacre.
On the one hand we have an arrest after six months of investigation, and on the other hand we have more than two decades of failure or no efforts to prosecute those responsible and zero commitment to justice regarding this case.
As we approach three full decades since the last war, witnesses are aging and quite a few others have died, therefore it is imperative that investigations and trials for crimes committed during the war gain momentum.
As the Government of the Republic, we are always interested, committed and dedicated to helping in this direction.
Dear citizens,
Today I would like to congratulate the Egyptian community on its day, thanking them for their continuous contribution to our country. We will stand by you and be with you as we have always been. Congratulations!
Since we have 14 items on the agenda, as well as other activities after the meeting, I invite you to begin reviewing them in order.
Thank you.
