The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, last night attended the opening of the personal exhibition of photographer, Hazir Reka – “Coming to Light”.
At the opening of the exhibition, Acting Prime Minister Kurti said that it takes us back to some of the most important moments of our recent history, documented with dedication and mastery by our photographer Hazir Reka.
“The exhibited photographs take us to 1988 and 1989, at the time of the miners’ protests and strikes, when the voice for freedom and justice, dignity and equality echoed throughout the country and beyond. Before us appear images from the 1988 protests, when miners all over the country became part of a broad civic movement with powerful popular demonstrations,” said Acting Prime Minister Kurti.
He further added that Hazir Reka, through his lens, has left us a precious archive of collective memory. His work remains living testimony to our modern history.
“The exhibition is a tribute to the miners, to their resistance and to all those who contributed to the long struggle for freedom and the Republic. At the same time, it is also an expression of gratitude for the tireless work of the author of this exhibition,” praised Acting Prime Minister Kurti.
