Prishtina, 18 April 2023

Today, the Joint Monitoring Committee was established which will monitor and supervise the implementation of the Basic Agreement for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and its Implementation Annex.

As foreseen in point 6 of the Implementation Annex, the Committee would be established 30 days after the high-level meeting of the Dialogue in Ohrid, held last month on March 18. The Joint Monitoring Committee will be chaired by the Special Representative of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak. Our country will be represented by the ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Brussels, Agron Bajrami, while Serbia will be represented by chief negotiator Petkovic.

The committee will hold regular meetings in Brussels. The Terms of Reference are expected to be finalized and approved at the first meeting of the Committee, which will take place in the coming weeks, after the next high-level meeting. Meanwhile, the next high-level meeting in the dialogue process is scheduled to be held in Brussels on May 2.
