Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi Meets with Finland’s Minister for European Affairs, Joakim Strand

The Acting First Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development, and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, held a bilateral meeting with Finland’s Minister for European Affairs, Joakim Strand. The meeting took place on the margins of the event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and the roundtables of discussions at the ministerial level on European affairs, attended by EU member states, candidate countries, and potential candidates.

Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi expressed his gratitude to Finland for its close partnership and support for Kosovo. He emphasized Kosovo’s goal of advancing on its path toward European integration, with the next step being the acquisition of candidate country status and the reception of the questionnaire. He added that the path toward EU membership must be based on principles, criteria, values, and meritocracy.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister underlined Kosovo’s proven progress as reflected in international indices, while also thanking Finland for its support regarding Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe.
