Prime Minister Thaçi addresses session of annual meeting of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

At the opening of the annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Istanbul, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci addressed the meeting by thanking the representatives of the states that voted for the membership of the Republic of Kosovo in the EBRD.

In addition, the Prime Minister offered an overview of the progress achieved by the Republic of Kosovo during the five years after the proclamation of independence, emphasizing the recognition of Kosovo by about 100 countries.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo and Kosovo’s citizens are determined to achieve the Euro-Atlantic future of our country, working with higher institutional commitment to fulfill all the criteria of democratic standards of integration – Thaçi said.

In his speech, Mr. Thaçi mentioned the achievement of the agreement on normalization of interstate relations between Kosovo and Serbia, considering this agreement as a milestone in the best interest of both countries and the region as a whole.

In this context, the Prime Minister said, this agreement should be taken as a good example by countries that have not recognized Kosovo in order to do so now, because every single day is further proof that the independence of Kosovo has brought more peace, stability, regional cooperation and European perspective to the region.

During the day, between sessions of the EBRD annual meeting, the Prime Minister held meetings with the Prime Minister of Jordan, Abdullah Ensour, the Prime Minister of Tunisia, Ali Larayedh and the Prime Minister of Egypt, Hisham Qandil, and will hold a special meeting with the Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
