The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has also today held talks with businesses. Today he welcomed representatives from the Plastics Sector, where, in addition to entrepreneurs, the Minister of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, as well as the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, were also present.
He thanked those present for participating in this conversation on this very important and decisive topic for the socio-economic transformation of Kosovo and beyond.
Considering that the skills gap is one of the factors that is leading to continuous emigration, but also to various social problems, the prime minister showed that we have prioritized the connection between education and the economy, while the bridge between these two is the dual education system, namely education and professional training.
Thus, the prime minister clarified that in close cooperation with economic and commercial organizations, with sectorial associations and active enterprises, dual education according to the models of German-speaking countries has started piloting in 2022-2023 in four vocational schools, in three municipalities, with four profiles: cook, hairdresser, waiter and bricklayer. Meanwhile, due to the interest of municipalities and schools, the school year 2023-2024 will find us with 21 vocational schools in 13 municipalities where eight additional profiles will be offered, including tailoring, auto mechanic, metal worker, woodworker, heating and air conditioning installer, electrician, wholesaler and retailer, and beautician.
“We are interested so that the needs of the industry and school curricula communicate with each other and as the Government we wish to mediate successfully”, concluded the Prime Minister addressing the entrepreneurs, thanking them for their contribution and commitment in their field.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, after greeting those present, said that we are together to address the main role of Education and Vocational Training for increasing quality employment in our country, but also for economic, environmental and environmental development of our Republic. She stated that the development of the processing industry sectors is very important for the country’s economy because it contributes directly to the increase in the value of production in the country and to the increase of employees with different profiles.
The importance of the implementation of dual education was reiterated during the conversation by the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci.
“Learning in vocational schools offers several opportunities, it offers the possibility of developing practice in the school facility, where in schools they have cabinets and laboratories, where they hold professional education, practical work, and it offers the possibility of offering practical work in businesses for a period of time assigned and dual education”, she emphasized, among other things.
During the conversation, the representatives of the Plastics Sector businesses expressed their thanks to the Prime Minister and the ministers for their concrete role and commitment in this matter.
During the day, the Prime Minister will also hold a conversation with representatives of businesses from the metals sector.
