Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi: the Public University of Prizren will be honored by the name of the intellectual, Ukshin Hoti

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, chaired by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, held its 83rd regular meeting in a row, in which decisions were approved within its field of constitutional and legal responsibilities.

The Government unanimously supported the Prime Minister’s proposal that the Public University of Prizren take the name of the distinguished intellectual, Ukshin Hoti.

In his opening address to the Kosovo Government’s regular meeting, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, welcomed Hajredin Kuçi and wished him a successful return to his government responsibilities and duties, as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice.

In his opening words, the Prime Minister informed the Government cabinet regarding the meeting held with the NATO Secretary General, Andreas Fogh Rasmunsen and the NATO Council. The topic of discussion, in this meeting, were security developments in the region and the work and vision of the Kosovo Government regarding developments in the north of the country.

“The position of all Kosovo’s institutions is and remains unchanged. There will be no partition, there will be no special status, and there will be no status of autonomy for particular areas of our country. There will be one integrated Kosovo in which all communities are free to enjoy their rights and own identity”, said Prime Minister Thaçi.

The topic of the meeting today between Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi and Secretary Rasmunsen and the Ambassadors of the NATO Council was the future of the KSF. The Prime Minister stressed that full independence means also full responsibility for Kosovo’s institutions.

“During these days, it is the 11 anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre. We offer our condolences to all the innocent victims of this massacre. I think that on this occasion, Serbia should reflect on the responsibility and consequences of wars and conflicts which were incited in the region,” said Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi.

Talking about concerns raised about the continuation of technical dialogue with Belgrade, the Prime Minister stated Kosovo’s position that first, all agreements achieved up to now must be respected and implemented, and then other topics of dialogue can continue.

The Government approved a Regulation on the structure of an organization for a professional fire and rescue service. This regulation defines the organizational structure as well as fundamental criteria of the organization and the functioning of its units. The aim of issuing this regulation is to create the necessary legal instrument to implement the Law on Fire and Rescue.

In today’s meeting, a decision was approved to expropriate immoveable property in the public interest on the path of the national highway N9, Fushë Kosovë-Arllat-Gjurgjicë. According to the decision, the Expropriation Department in the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, in cooperation with the municipal assemblies in the territory where the units for expropriation are, will undertake all measures to implement this decision.

In today’s meeting, with a decision approved by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Deputy Minister of Justice was appointed National Coordinator against Domestic Violence.
The Coordinator will lead the Inter-ministerial Group against Domestic Violence, which comprises:

1.    Office of the Prime Minister – Agency for Gender Equality; deputy chair;
2.    Ministry of Justice, member;
3.    Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, member;
4.    Ministry of Internal Affairs, member;
5.    Ministry of Health, member;
6.    Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, member;
7.    Ministry of Finance, member;
8.    Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, member;
9.    State Prosecutor, member;
10.    Kosovo Judicial Council, member;
11.    Kosovo Police, member;
12.    Kosovo Judicial Institute, member;
13.    Kosovo Statistics Agency, member;
14.    Kosovo Shelters’ Coalition, member.

The Government also established a Steering Group on Strategic Planning including:

1.    Dhurata Hoxha, Prime Minister’s Political Advisor               Chair
2.    Ruzhdi Halili, Director of the Office of Strategic Planning         Deputy Chair
3.    Agim Krasniqi, Director of Budget Department, MF             Member
4.    Eset Rama, Director of the Coordinating Secretariat of the Government     Member
5.    Besim Kajtazi, Director of the Legal Office of the PMO             Member
6.    Florim Canolli, Director of the Office for the Coordination of EU Assistance, MEI Member
7.    Valmira Rexhëbeqaj, Director of the Macroeconomic Policy Unit         Member

The Steering Group on Strategic Planning is an institution responsible for coordinating the development of strategic documents and ensuring the harmonization of all strategic documents with budgetary sources. 

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development informed the Government Cabinet about the beginning of the harvest in Kosovo. Minister Blerand Stavileci noted that the harvest up to now has gone well and that the yield achieved is good and promises to meet at large part of Kosovo’s wheat needs.
