Podujeva, 8 August 2025
The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the Acting Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, together with the Mayor of Podujeva Municipality, Shpejtim Bulliqi, attended the inauguration of the Hemodialysis Unit at the Specialist Polyclinic facility in Podujeva. This service is now being offered for the first time in the municipality of Podujeva. Until now, patients from this municipality have received treatment in Prishtina.
The unit includes 15 digitized and antibacterial beds, 16 new state-of-the-art hemodialysis machines (manufactured in 2025), an osmosis system for the supply of clean, fully deionized water required for the dialysis process, and two separate rooms for patients who are infected and also in need of hemodialysis. The total investment amounts to €343,200 and is part of broader efforts to expand and modernize dialysis services throughout the country.
“This is extremely good news for all patients and their families who need hemodialysis. As we learned from Dr. Mimoza, 32 patients are currently being treated with this service, and of course, work will continue in two shifts since more patients are expected—especially those among our diaspora visiting their homeland for the holidays,” stated the Prime Minister.
The Mayor of Podujeva Municipality, Shpejtim Bulliqi, said this is a special moment for the citizens of Podujeva, as from today onward, the 32 patients in need of this service will no longer have to travel from different parts of the municipality to Prishtina to receive it. He thanked the Government and the Ministry of Health for their support and announced that additional specialist services are expected to be launched soon in the municipality.
Minister of Health Arben Vitia described today’s inauguration of the Hemodialysis Unit as an outstanding example of cooperation between the Municipality of Podujeva, the Ministry of Health, and the University Clinical and Hospital Service of Kosovo.
