Mitrovica North, 12 June, 2025
Today, at the premises of the Ministry of Local Government Administration in Mitrovica North, the first meeting of the Mitrovica Joint Board was held with representatives and members from the Municipality of Mitrovica South and the Municipality of Mitrovica North.
At this first meeting, which was chaired by the Acting Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi, who is also the Prime Minister’s representative, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was also present.
The Prime Minister said that it is a pleasure and an honor for him to be there on the occasion of the formalization of an important task such as the Joint Board. He thanked the Mayor of Mitrovica South, Bedri Hamza, and the Mayor of Mitrovica North, Erden Atiq, for their proposals for members of this Board. Prime Minister Kurti congratulated the members on their new duties and wished them much success and good work, while pledging full support in the face of the challenges they may face.
The Joint Functional Board is of particular importance for the close cooperation between the two municipalities. It is provided for in the Law on Administrative Boundaries of Municipalities. Through coordination in key areas such as infrastructure, environment, economic development and municipal services, this Board will provide a concrete mechanism for the implementation of joint projects and building mutual trust. With equal participation from both municipalities and under the chairmanship of the representative of the Prime Minister, this cooperation is evidence of commitment to the interest of all citizens, without any distinction.
