Late last night, at the request of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council was held to discuss the latest developments in the security situation in the Middle East, namely the launch of the military operation “Epic Fury” by the United States of America and partner forces against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Prime Minister Kurti reiterated the clear position of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo that they stand firmly alongside our friends and strategic allies, in particular the United States of America, in efforts to preserve international peace, security, and stability.
In line with its Euro-Atlantic orientation and close partnership with the United States of America, the Republic of Kosovo supports the actions undertaken by the U.S. against the targets of the Ayatollah regime in Iran, considering them measures aimed at preventing further escalation and limiting destabilizing capacities in the region.
At the same time, the Republic of Kosovo expresses its solidarity with the people of Iran and their legitimate aspirations for freedom, dignity, and fundamental rights.
The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo have already undertaken all necessary measures to maintain order and security within the Republic of Kosovo and are closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, as well as any potential implications for Kosovo and the region. We are also in close and continuous communication with our strategic partners.
We call on the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to remain calm and to inform themselves only through official channels and credible sources of information, and not to fall victim to disinformation and propaganda aimed at destabilizing the country and creating insecurity, tensions, or spreading narratives against the statehood and security of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Republic of Kosovo remains a reliable and committed partner of the Euro-Atlantic community and will continue to contribute to joint efforts for global peace, security, and stability.
