Prime Minister Kurti visited Telecom – Vala of Kosovo closes 2025 with approximately €10 million in profit

Prishtina, 31 December 2025

Following his visit to the Post of Kosovo, the Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, visited the Telecom of Kosovo. He was warmly received by the Chief Executive Officer of Telecom of Kosovo, Burbuqe Hana, along with other members of the management team.
“In 2023, the company achieved a profit of over €7 million; in 2024, again more than €7 million; and this year, approximately €10 million in profit. This demonstrates that over the past three years, Telecom of Kosovo maintained a very strong financial performance, with a total profit of around €25 million,” Prime Minister Kurti stated after the visit, praising the management, the Board of Telecom, and all employees of Telecom for these notable achievements.

He added: “Telecom of Kosovo, also known as Vala of Kosovo, is a leader in mobile services; it has nationwide coverage with 4G+ and 5G and provides the public with engaging media content, while rapidly advancing the expansion of its fixed-line network”.

Speaking to the media, Prime Minister Kurti further highlighted that the investments currently being made by the public operator through government loans, not subsidies, have not only restored Telecom to its rightful position but have also sent the proper signal and momentum to the entire sector.

“As a shareholder, the Government of the Republic is committed to ensuring that the public operator extends its services, both mobile and fixed, beyond narrow commercial interests. Thus, we are here together, the state working for the citizen. Therefore, the public service is at the core of what we think, plan, act on and implement.

The Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, highlighted that prior to our government, Telecom of Kosovo had accumulated losses of approximately 150 million euros. In less than three years, however, up to the third quarter of this year, it has generated 21 million euros in profit, and by year-end, it is expected to reach at least 25 million euros in profit. “This may have seemed unbelievable to many, and I am extremely proud and pleased with all the work Telecom of Kosovo has accomplished”, Minister Rizvanolli stated.

The Chief Executive Officer of Telecom of Kosovo, Burbuqe Hana, expressed her gratitude to the Minister for her support and understanding, as well as to the entire staff for their dedication throughout the year, emphasizing that their work is a duty, an obligation and a responsibility, and that none of these achievements would have been possible without everyone’s commitment.

Full statement by Prime Minister Kurti:

Good afternoon everyone,

It was a pleasure and an honour to be welcomed today, on the last day of 2025, by the Chief Executive Officer of Telecom of Kosovo, Burbuqe Hana and the Chairwoman of Telecom, Ms Saime Thaqi.

I am joined here by the Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli. I would like to thank the management, the Board and all employees of Telecom for the achievements attained, not only in terms of financial performance, but also in the expansion and quality of the mobile network.

For three consecutive years, Telecom has been delivering strong results, and the figures speak for themselves. In 2023, the company achieved a profit of over €7 million; in 2024, again more than €7 million; and this year, approximately €10 million in profit.

This indicates that over the past three years, Telecom of Kosovo has achieved a very strong financial performance, with total profits reaching approximately €25 million. The core transmission system currently comprises 551 BTS units, 15 of which are located in northern Kosovo, providing services to all citizens without distinction.

Telecom of Kosovo, also known as Vala of Kosovo, is a leader in mobile services; it has nationwide coverage with 4G+ and 5G and provides the public with engaging media content, while rapidly advancing the expansion of its fixed-line network.

Financial statements indicate that the internal restructuring has delivered notable results, enhancing both operational efficiency and the quality of services provided.

The investments currently being made by the public operator through government loans, not subsidies, have not only restored Telecom to its rightful position but have also sent the proper signal and momentum to the entire sector. In particular, even the other mobile operator has begun investing after many years. Other fixed-service providers are also making investments, expanding and growing.

Consequently, Telecom’s investments, improvements in quality and efficiency gains are encouraging competitors to follow suit and serve the citizens of the Republic better and more extensively.

Numerous entrepreneurs and companies rely on Telecom’s services for their daily operations, which today are widely accessible and of unprecedented quality.

Strategically, as a shareholder, the Government of the Republic is committed to ensuring that the public operator extends its services, both mobile and fixed, beyond narrow commercial interests. Thus, we are here together, the state working for the citizen. Therefore, the public service is at the core of what we think, plan, act on and implement.

Rural areas, roads and border regions must be served to benefit institutions, citizens and businesses of our country. We are particularly committed to providing dedicated services to vulnerable groups of citizens, as we consider electronic communications to be a human right, not merely a luxury. Naturally, we view public service beyond purely commercial objectives. However, when public service is delivered alongside commercial efficiency and achieves success, it inevitably results in an outstanding outcome.

I would like to congratulate the management, the Board and all employees for the full implementation of Kosovo’s network code at Vala, namely code 22101. Vala of Kosovo is now one hundred percent owned by Kosovo in both prefix and network. Our public operator, without intermediaries, is set to become a partner with various operators worldwide.

I extend my gratitude to Director Hana, Board Chairwoman Thaqi, and everyone who contributed so significantly, a contribution that may not be fully visible or widely known, yet it always has the recognition of the Government of the Republic and our unwavering support.

Thank you and happy 2026!
