Krushë e Madhe, 17 June 2025
On the occasion of the 82nd birthday of Professor Ukshin Hoti, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Acting First Deputy Prime Minister, Besnik Bislimi, visited the Ukshin Hoti Memorial House in Krushë e Madhe to honor his life and legacy.
“Ukshin Hoti is a unique and unparalleled figure and mind—so deep in wisdom, so vast in knowledge, and so elevated in ideas, that we have an obligation to recall and remind ourselves of his texts so that we rise to the level of our national and historical duty to advance the Republic of Kosovo and the Albanian nation in general,” said Prime Minister Kurti during the visit.
He stated that justice is being sought for him, and urged international actors to pressure Serbia to open the archives of the Serbian forces’ genocide during the war in Kosovo, so that the truth may come to light and justice may be served for Professor Ukshin Hoti and the roughly 1,600 others who were forcibly disappeared.
Professor Ukshin Hoti would have celebrated his 82nd birthday today, but his fate remains unresolved since his abduction following his release from Dubrava Prison during NATO’s bombing campaign.
Glory to the life and legacy of Ukshin Hoti, and to all the heroes and martyrs of the Albanian nation.
Full Speech of Prime Minister Kurti
Together with his son, Andin, and his sister, Myrvete, colleagues from the Government of the Republic, municipalities of Kosovo, and members of the Assembly, along with activists and state officials, we are here in Krushë e Madhe at the Memorial House to honor the life and work of Prof. Ukshin Hoti—Baca Ukë—who would have celebrated his birthday today, 17 June. His fate, however, remains unresolved following his abduction after being released from Dubrava Prison during the NATO bombings.
Ukshin Hoti is a unique and unparalleled figure and mind—so deep in wisdom, so vast in knowledge, and so elevated in ideas—that we have an obligation to recall and remind ourselves of his texts so that we may rise to the level of our national and historical responsibility to move forward for the Republic of Kosovo and the Albanian nation as a whole.
We seek justice for Ukshin Hoti, but above all, we call on international actors to exert pressure on official Belgrade to open the archives related to the genocide committed by Serbian forces in Kosovo, so that the fate of Ukshin Hoti and that of around 1,600 others may be clarified and justice may be done.
Glory to the life and work of Ukshin Hoti, and to all the heroes and martyrs of the Albanian nation.
