Last night, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, began his visit to the United Kingdom with a meeting with the Albanian diaspora in London.
During the discussions with our diaspora, Prime Minister Kurti also delivered a keynote speech. He stated that the partnership between Kosovo and the United Kingdom is built upon pillars such as cooperation in defense and security, economic development, and diplomacy. He added that this partnership strengthens our bilateral ties, fosters the exchange of knowledge, and contributes to mutual peace, stability, and prosperity.
The Prime Minister went on to speak about the government’s achievements during this mandate that are linked to cooperation with the United Kingdom, highlighting investments in the fields of defense and security, the quadrupling of the defense budget, training of KSF members, and the acquisition of new systems; an average economic growth rate of 6%; increased budget revenues; support for citizens and productive enterprises; as well as the strengthening of trade relations and investments from the United Kingdom.
Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the importance of our diaspora, alongside the government’s continued support and attention toward our compatriots abroad. Through the Citizen Diplomacy Fellowship program, he said, young professionals from the diaspora are being brought into the public sector, allowing them to contribute their expertise and help shape Kosovo’s future through professional and civic engagement. Meanwhile, with the launch of the Diaspora Investment Window, as part of the Credit Guarantee Fund, the diaspora is enabled to access investment loans without collateral—bringing their business ideas and experience back home, thereby helping to boost Kosovo’s economic growth.
Inviting members of the diaspora to come and invest in Kosovo, the Prime Minister expressed the government’s readiness and willingness to deepen cooperation and develop new initiatives that bring the diaspora closer to the homeland while fostering the country’s development and progress.
The event was also attended by the Ambassador of Kosovo to the United Kingdom, Ilir Kapiti.
