Paris, 27 March 2026

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, paid a visit and held a working lunch meeting with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, who welcomed him at the Élysée Palace in Paris.

President Macron once again congratulated Prime Minister Kurti on his re-election and new mandate at the head of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for France’s continuous contribution to Kosovo.

Also attending the meeting were the French Minister Delegate for Europe, Benjamin Haddad, as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to France, Mehdi Halimi, and the Consul General of the Republic of Kosovo in Strasbourg, Lulzim Hiseni.

The continued positive role of NATO in Kosovo, namely KFOR, as well as the missions of the European Union, was emphasized.

The meeting also addressed European integration and security. Prime Minister Kurti stressed that Kosovo remains fully aligned with the EU’s foreign and security policy. He underlined progress in comprehensive reforms, with advancements in 35 out of 38 areas, as also noted in the latest EU report on the country, ranking Kosovo among the most successful countries in the region. In this context, Prime Minister Kurti requested France’s support for Kosovo’s European integration and membership in international organizations.

Prime Minister Kurti spoke about Kosovo’s security, first and foremost as the security of its borders, then about the ongoing strengthening of domestic defense capacities, relations with the northern neighbor Serbia in connection with the dialogue process in Brussels and the implementation of the agreement on full normalization, as well as cooperation with Euro-Atlantic allies and regional security in the Balkans.

The discussion also covered plans and investments in education, as well as the organization of new Kosovo–France business forums, following the successful one held in February this year in Prishtina. In this context, the Mediterranean Games 2030, to be hosted by Kosovo, were highlighted as a call for France’s support and engagement in the preparations for their organization.

The meeting confirmed the mutual commitment to further deepen the European and bilateral partnership between Kosovo and France.
