Today, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati. The meeting took place as part of the regular engagements and continued cooperation between the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and the United States of America.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on current developments in the country and the region, with a particular focus on security and economic development. Prime Minister Kurti highly praised the recent decision by NATO member states to increase the defense budget, adopted during the latest summit held in The Hague on 25 June 2025, calling it an important step for collective security.
The importance of deepening economic cooperation, increasing trade exchanges, and attracting foreign investment was also emphasized. In this context, the Prime Minister welcomed the opportunity to intensify cooperation with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), including support for key projects in the private sector. Specifically, the potential support from DFC for the local company Kosmonte Foods was positively highlighted, as an example of promoting sustainable economic development and expanding productive capacities.
One of the examples of this cooperation is the potential $50 million loan foreseen for Kosmonte Foods, aimed at supporting its expansion in food production. The investment is planned in two phases: the construction of a new meat processing facility, and the expansion of cold storage, rapid freezing capacities, and processing of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude and that of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for the continued support of the United States of America, and reiterated full commitment to advancing the excellent relations between the two countries.
