Prishtina, 18 November 2025
Today, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Johann Wadephul.
Welcoming him to Kosovo and expressing gratitude for Germany’s support to Kosovo, at the beginning of the meeting the Prime Minister stated that “Germany has been an unwavering partner of Kosovo even before our independence, and our cooperation is rooted in shared values and in a common vision for a stable, democratic, and secure Europe.” He emphasized that during this governing mandate, Kosovo has had stable economic growth, with no year below 4% of GDP, and has strengthened democracy, improved the rule of law, and marked progress in the fight against corruption, as evidenced by international reports that show Kosovo’s continuous improvement in these areas. The Prime Minister stated that the Republic of Kosovo remains determined and committed to working jointly with Germany to deepen bilateral relations and to advance on its path toward the European Union and NATO. On this occasion, he underlined that the Republic of Kosovo deserves to obtain candidate status for EU membership and that the European Commission should submit the membership questionnaire as soon as possible.
The meeting also included discussions on the active role, contribution, and potential of Kosovo’s diaspora in Germany in strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries through foreign investments and the deepening of ties between our peoples.
The relations between Kosovo and Serbia and the implementation of the Brussels Basic Agreement and its Annex were also topics of discussion. The Prime Minister underscored that even more than two years after the terrorist attack in Banjska, in which a sergeant of the Kosovo Police was killed, the leader of this terrorist and paramilitary group, Milan Radoičić, continues to move freely in Serbia, and the Serbian authorities refuse to hand him and his group over to the Republic of Kosovo, despite the evidence concerning his involvement in the attack and the indictment of Kosovo’s prosecution against him, while he and his group continue to pose a threat to the country’s security.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked Minister Wadephul for his visit, for Germany’s continuous support, and for Germany’s contribution to maintaining peace and security through its troops in NATO’s mission in Kosovo, KFOR.
