The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with the Head of the EULEX Mission, Giovanni Pietro Barbano.
During the meeting, appreciation was expressed for the work of EULEX in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on its role in monitoring justice institutions and its contribution to advancing the rule of law.
In this context, there was agreement that challenges in the judicial system remain present, particularly with regard to delays in handling cases, inefficient case management, and a lack of consistency in decision-making. The need for deep reforms to enhance discipline, accountability, and efficiency in the judiciary was emphasized.
The parties agreed that digitalization is a key element in promoting transparency and accountability in the judicial and prosecutorial system. It was also stressed that the electronic case management system must be implemented by every judge and prosecutor.
EULEX remains an important partner for Kosovo in the field of the rule of law.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government of the Republic of Kosovo’s commitment to legality and the rule of law, and consequently, to continuing reforms that ensure an efficient, transparent, and accountable justice system.
