Prishtina, 25 February 2026
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Ms. Elisa Spiropali.
During the meeting, among other matters, the importance of strategic infrastructure projects was emphasized, in particular the Gjakova–Shkodër railway, which will be a priority of this mandate, with the aim of commencing construction works as soon as possible. This project was assessed as an investment of significant economic and regional importance, which will strengthen the ties between Kosovo and Albania, increase the movement of goods and people, and contribute to the sustainable development of both countries.
The need to continue joint intergovernmental meetings (G2G) was also highlighted, with the aim of organizing one during 2026. The discussion also covered the coordination of foreign policy and mutual support in international organizations and forums, as well as strengthening cooperation regarding the Albanian diaspora, particularly in promoting language and culture among younger generations. Both sides agreed that the diaspora remains an important factor for the economic, diplomatic, and cultural development of both states and requires joint engagement and a coordinated strategy.
