Pristina, 24 March, 2026
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by members of the cabinet, hosted a meeting with leaders and representatives of international journalist and media organizations: Reporters Without Borders (RSF), the Association of European Journalists (AEJ), the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), the Censorship Index, the Transeuropa Balkans and Caucasus Observatory (OBCT) and the International Press Institute (IPI).
Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that media freedom is of fundamental importance for the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. He said that Kosovo has a diverse and pluralistic media environment, where freedom of expression is not only protected, but also exercised – including through criticism of the government. However, he highlighted concerns about the lack of transparency of media ownership and the influence of corporate interests.
After listening to the issues raised by the representatives of the organizations, Prime Minister Kurti thanked them for the visit and discussion, while expressing the readiness and willingness of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for cooperation.
