The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has received a letter from Democratic Congressman of the United States of America, George Latimer.
Thanking him for their recent meeting in New York, Congressman Latimer, in his letter, congratulated the Prime Minister and the people of Kosovo on the substantial progress the state of Kosovo has made in policies aimed at democratic governance, combating corruption, fostering economic prosperity, and promoting the rule of law.
“I would like to reiterate the strong support of the United States for the Republic of Kosovo. As explicitly stated in the recently adopted National Security Authorization Act, the United States fully supports Kosovo’s efforts to join NATO and the European Union, and also supports efforts toward the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia—goals that would significantly enhance both security and the rule of law throughout the Western Balkans,” Congressman Latimer wrote.
He extended his best wishes to the Prime Minister for peace and prosperity during this festive season and expressed that he looks forward to our countries continuing their joint work in the new year.

Dear Prime Minister Kurti,
As the year draws to a close, I want to thank you again for taking the time to meet with me last September during your visit to New York, and to congratulate you — and the entire people of Kosovo — on the substantial progress your nation has achieved in pursuing policies aimed at democratic governance, fighting corruption, fostering economic prosperity, and promoting the rule of law. These worthy principles have guided the United States for 250 years, and will continue to prevail in both our countries through the efforts of freedom-loving people.
I would like to reiterate the strong support of the United States for the Republic of Kosovo. As the recently approved National Defense Authorization Act states explicitly, the United States stands fully behind Kosovo’s efforts to join NATO and the European Union as well as supporting efforts toward the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia – goals that would substantially improve both security and the rule of law throughout the Western Balkans.
I wish you all the best for peace and prosperity during this Holiday Season and look forward to our nations continuing our work together in the New Year.
