Pristina, 31 July, 2025
The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, attended last night the festive dinner organized by the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA) on the occasion of membership in the European Quality Assurance Register in Higher Education (EQAR).
The event was attended, among others, by Ambassador Aivo Orav, Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo; Anu Prattipati, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Kosovo; Clarissa Castek, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Austria in Kosovo, Nedjeljko Spilek, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Croatia in Kosovo, and Ardian Gola, former MP and former Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Education.
Highly appreciating this important achievement, Prime Minister Kurti expressed his congratulations to the Chair of the Kosovo Higher Education Commission, Prof. Hasnije Ilazi, and the Director General of the KAA, Naim Gashi. He also thanked our partners and friendly countries for their support, contribution and partnership with the Kosovo Accreditation Agency, in order to meet the European Quality Standards (EQAR).
The inclusion of the KAA in EQAR represents an important international assessment of its commitment and dedication to meeting the European quality standards. This achievement significantly strengthens trust in the higher education system in Kosovo, both domestically and internationally.
For students, this means that their degrees will enjoy guaranteed international recognition, facilitating academic and professional mobility in the countries of the European Union and beyond. Registration with EQAR proves that programs and institutions that undergo the accreditation process by KAA meet the criteria set for quality and transparency.
For higher education institutions, this means expanded opportunities for international cooperation, participation in European programs, securing funding, increasing visibility and attracting students from other countries.
As a member of EQAR, KAA gains equal status with the relevant European agencies and is in a position to evaluate institutions outside the borders of Kosovo, positioning itself as a serious and integrity-based actor in the field of quality assurance in higher education at the international level.
