Prishtina, 7 July 2025
The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Acting Minister of Finance, Labour and Transfers, Hekuran Murati, held a welcome meeting with the new World Bank Country Manager for Kosovo and North Macedonia, Carole Megevand.
Highlighting the fact that cooperation between the Government and the World Bank has steadily strengthened over the past four years, Prime Minister Kurti expressed his confidence and readiness to further deepen and strengthen this cooperation under Ms. Megevand’s leadership.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to joint projects, including those awaiting ratification in the Assembly—among them, the establishment of the Development Bank, which is to be supported by the World Bank.
The government’s dedication and engagement is also demonstrated by its decision to become a donor country in the International Development Association (IDA)—a success story of transitioning from a recipient state to a donor state.
Prime Minister Kurti noted that a shared priority remains investment in human capital, environment, energy, digital transformation, and increasing project implementation efficiency—areas in which Kosovo will continue to work closely with the World Bank and other international financial institutions.
He expressed his gratitude for the ongoing cooperation with the World Bank and for its continued support for Kosovo and its path toward sustainable development.
