Paris, 30 October 2025
The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was the keynote guest in the discussion “Peacekeeping at a Crossroads: The
Future of UN Missions and Global Responsibility”, organized within the framework of the Paris Peace Forum, currently being held in Paris.
Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that Kosovo represents a double success story: first, as a success of NATO’s military and humanitarian intervention to stop Serbia’s genocide, and second, as a state where development and democracy advance hand in hand.
He noted that over the years, as the state strengthened, the international military presence in the country gradually decreased while economic progress increased. Today, Kosovo’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita is six times higher than it was in 2000 and three times higher than in 2008, the year of its declaration of independence. He added that Kosovo should serve as an example that liberation and independence also bring macroeconomic and social dividends for all citizens.
The Prime Minister stated that every peacekeeping mission needs shared values, not just shared interests, underscoring the importance of multilateralism, dialogue, negotiation, reconciliation, and agreements. In this regard, he referred to the European Union model as a political project and historical process of peace and prosperity.
Responding to questions from the audience, Prime Minister Kurti also spoke about the strengthening of Kosovo’s statehood internationally, the three new recognitions received this year, and the country’s aspirations for integration into the European Union and NATO, alongside the importance of regional cooperation.
