Vushtrri, Zubin Potok, 26 July 2025
Following the tribute in honor of Afrim Bunjaku, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, and the General Director of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, paid tribute at the grave of Kosovo Hero Enver Zymeri in the Municipality of Vushtrri, before proceeding to the memorial erected at the site of his death in Varagë, Zubin Potok.
“We are here together with colleagues from the Government and leaders of the Kosovo Police, at the place where Enver Zymeri heroically fell, who was killed in Varagë, Zubin Potok, 14 years ago. After the homage at his grave in Vushtrri, we came here to honor his life, work, and sacrifice,” said Prime Minister Kurti.
Fourteen years after the killing of Enver Zymeri and nearly two years after the killing of Afrim Bunjaku—two heroes of Kosovo in the north of the country—all the criminals who once ruled and profited have either fled to Serbia or are now in prison in Kosovo.
“The Kosovo Police, including its new generations of cadets, continues to serve across the country without distinction, and we are proud of this police force. At the same time, we are filled with sorrow and pain for the best among us—those who gave their lives and are no longer with us physically. Enver Zymeri, Afrim Bunjaku, and other officers are examples for all of us who serve the Republic of Kosovo, and their sacrifice translates into our commitment and responsibility, individually and collectively,” he said.
Glory to Enver Zymeri, Afrim Bunjaku, all police officers fallen in the line of duty, and the martyrs and heroes of our nation!
Full Speech of Prime Minister Kurti:
“We are here together with colleagues from the Government and leaders of the Kosovo Police, at the place where Enver Zymeri heroically fell, who was killed in Varagë, Zubin Potok, 14 years ago. After the homage at his grave in Vushtrri, we came here to honor his life, work, and sacrifice.
Today is the Memorial Day for Police Officers Fallen in the Line of Duty—24 in total over the past 24 years, from the killing of officer Lazim Rexhepi from Kamenica in 2001 to the most recent, officer Muhamed Lika in Kaçanik.
These 24 officers are heroes of Kosovo, who served with honor and dedication, with professionalism and integrity, for all citizens—without distinction—in defense of constitutionality and legality, peace and security.
Fourteen years after the killing of Enver Zymeri and nearly two years after the killing of Afrim Bunjaku—these two heroes of Kosovo in the north of the country—all the criminals who once ruled and profited have either fled to Serbia or are now imprisoned in Kosovo.
The Kosovo Police, including its new generations of cadets, continues to serve throughout the country without distinction, and we are proud of this police force. At the same time, we are filled with sorrow and pain for the best among us—those who gave their lives and are no longer physically among us. Enver Zymeri, Afrim Bunjaku, and other officers are examples for all of us who serve the Republic of Kosovo. Their sacrifice, their martyrdom, becomes a source of determination and responsibility for each and every one of us.
Glory to Enver Zymeri, Afrim Bunjaku, all police officers fallen in the line of duty, and the martyrs and heroes of our nation!
