The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed students from the French University Sciences Po, Humboldt University, University of Skopje and the New University of Bulgaria.
Welcoming them to Kosovo, Prime Minister Kurti informed them of the latest developments in Kosovo and the achievements of the government during this mandate.
Kosovo is proof that economic development and democratic progress can go hand in hand, said the Prime Minister. He added that our country has recorded economic growth with an annual average of 6% in the last four, and Kosovo has achieved progress in international indices on democracy, rule of law and human rights, among others.
The Prime Minister said that in addition to the economic growth achieved in the last four years, as a government we have worked on redistributing this growth to citizens, in the form of subsidies for farmers, free public education, allowances for children and young mothers, increases in the minimum wage and salaries in the public and private sectors.
Employment increased, with an emphasis on youth and women, and unemployment fell from over 25 percent to under 11 percent, while the Prime Minister also emphasized the support and encouragement for businesses, which have increased their turnover in recent years and the work done in terms of connecting the economy with the labor market through dual education.
He also addressed investments in key and strategic areas, including security and defense, as well as the orientation and aspirations for membership in NATO and the European Union.
In this exchange with the students, the Prime Minister also answered their questions, which also touched on the topics of relations in the region and in particular with Serbia, the measures taken in the fields of security and defense, the dangers that threaten all of Europe, such as hybrid threats and the rise of fascism, and the task of confronting them, while there was also a discussion on the authors of political philosophy and sociology.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked the students for their high interest in getting to know our country more deeply and wished them a good, fruitful and productive stay in the country.
