Kosovo successfully concludes first year of direct leadership in CEFTA: 11 adopted decisions and regional leadership

Prishtina, 3 December 2025

The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed today in a meeting the new Director of the CEFTA Secretariat, Pranvera Kastrati, elected this year after a two-year blockade. This meeting took place at the end of the “CEFTA Week”, held in Prishtina, during which Kosovo is concluding a successful first year of direct representation and leadership of the regional trade cooperation process.

During the meetings held on 1, 2 and 3 December within the framework of “CEFTA Week 2025”, under the chairmanship of Kosovo through the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, four important decisions were adopted, bringing the total number of decisions during this year to 11, an achievement that proves Kosovo’s efficiency and leadership in regional leadership as well as the importance it pays
to regional cooperation, integration into the European Union and deepening trade.

The decisions adopted yesterday mark important steps towards trade facilitation, standardization of procedures, digitalization and increased food and customs security in the region.

The Prime Minister assessed that the election of the new Director, Pranvera Kastrati, the first Albanian to lead CEFTA since its existence in 2006, is a key decision that was made precisely during Kosovo’s presidency, which proves our country’s ability to break blockades and build regional consensus.

Today, the transfer of the CEFTA presidency from Kosovo, from the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, to Delina Ibrahimaj, Minister of Economy and Innovation of Albania, was also completed.

We wish Albania success in its leadership in 2026 and offer our full cooperation.
