Speech of Prime Minister Kurti at the opening of the new center of the Concentrix Balkan company in Mitrovica

Mitrovica, 4 June 2025

It’s a beautiful day, the economy is growing, and the city is Mitrovica—three good reasons to celebrate.

Dear Mr. Derler,
Esteemed representatives of Concentrix,
Honored guests,

It is a privilege and a pleasure to be here today in Mitrovica to mark the opening of a new Concentrix location in Kosovo. This event is more than the expansion of a renowned global company in our country—it is proof of confidence in the capacities of our citizens, in the skills of our youth, and in the direction our country is taking.

Companies like Concentrix bring jobs and create new opportunities for young people to grow professionally and become part of the global market—without needing to leave their homeland.

Today, Kosovo has over 2,000 companies in the ICT sector. More than 85% of them export their services, mainly to the EU and the US. In the past four years alone, ICT service exports have increased by 385%—nearly a fivefold increase. This is clear evidence of the sector’s potential.
These numbers point to a dynamic and competitive sector. According to the “Future of the IT” report by Tech Emerging Europe Advocates, Kosovo ranks 11th in emerging Europe for IT competitiveness—and 1st in the Western Balkans.

Our government is committed to further supporting this sector’s growth and development through a comprehensive approach, centered on three main points:

We have invested in digital infrastructure, ensuring broadband internet access for all settlements across Kosovo. By the end of 2024, the public mobile operator Vala covered 65% of the territory with 5G, while the rest is covered by 4G+.
We have invested in education and professional training. So far, over 4,800 young people have been trained in various ICT fields, in cooperation with our development partners.
We have awarded nearly 7,000 scholarships for students in STEM fields—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—85% of which were granted to women and girls.

We have also created development spaces through innovation platforms, and I would like to highlight two such locations:

In Prizren, where Concentrix will soon open another location, there is the Innovation and Training Park—a joint investment with the German Government, covering an area of 39 hectares—which offers space for businesses, startups, and educational institutions.
In Prishtina, we established TechPark Prishtina, a 4,000 square meter space managed by the STIKK association, which is becoming a hub for collaboration among tech companies and professionals.

One more point I would like to mention today is the digitalization of public services. The e-Kosova platform, launched in 2021, now offers over 240 online services. With over 1 million registered users, the number of transactions rose from 2.9 million in 2022 to 4.9 million in 2024—a 155% increase.

Dear attendees,

The opening of this location in Mitrovica is an investment in our people, in the future of this city, and in the sustainable development of Kosovo. We are deeply grateful for the trust Concentrix has shown in Kosovo, in our youth, and in our potential to be part of the global economy.

As a government, we remain committed to further supporting this sector and creating even more opportunities for our youth, for our citizens, and for our country’s future.

Thank you very much!
