Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Edita Tahiri had a farewell meeting with the Commander of KFOR, Major General Salvatore Farina who is nearly at the end of his mission as leader of NATO forces in Kosovo, KFOR.
Deputy Prime Minister on this occasion thanked the Commander of KFOR for his commitment and NATO forces commitment for the progress of Kosovo by highly appreciating the cooperation between the Government of Kosovo, NATO and KFOR to build democracy and security in the independent and democratic Kosovo. She also stressed that the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo since 15 years continues to enjoy respect and support by all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
Both interlocutors agreed that the role of NATO and KFOR are in the service of peace and stability in Kosovo and the region, while Mrs. Tahiri evaluated that NATO is a strategic partner of Kosovo in our efforts to build security architecture of our new state, considering that we have Euro-Atlantic common values.
KFOR commander, Salvatore Farina Tahiri thanked Deputy Prime Minister of Kosova for cooperation and highly praised the progress achieved in Kosovo during the period of his service in the country. He further said, that KFOR forces will continue to be fully operational to implement the mission which aims to preserve peace and security and promoting cooperation and tolerance. NATO and KFOR remains committed to the peacekeeping mission which aims to provide a secure environment and overall stability in the country, he said.
