The telegram states:

The Kosovo Liberation Army Veterans’ Day is one of the most important dates of the history of our people’s resistance for freedom and liberation, and it is celebrated today throughout Kosovo.

This date commemorates the events of December 30th, 1991, when legendary Commander Adem Jashari and his warriors opposed military and police Serb forces with armed resistance, showing them that this country custodians’ would not fall into submission.

As time went by, this resistance turned into the struggle of the Kosovo Liberation Army, which synthesised the national, political and liberation will of all citizens of Kosovo.

Today, as we mark the KLA Veterans’ Day, Kosovo is a free, independent, sovereign state that has successfully entered the phase of post international supervision.

The institutional protection of all social categories that have contributed to the freedom and independence of Kosovo is the priority of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

Thus, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is intensively working to finalise as soon as possible the law on KLA veterans.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo is working and is engaged to fulfil all benchmarks, so that Kosovo  may become as soon as possible part of all Euro-Atlantic institutions.

Happy KLA Veterans’ Day.

Hashim Thaçi
Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo
