The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, this evening visited the Municipality of Suhareka, on the occasion of the solemn opening of the inauguration of the House of Culture “Ukë Bytyçi”. There they were welcomed by the Mayor of Suhareka Municipality, Bali Muharremaj, as well as family members of the Bytyçi family. The president of the country, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, was present at this ceremony.
The special feature of this inauguration of the House of Culture is that it is taking place right on the eve of the 22nd anniversary of the death of the former mayor of Suhareka, Ukë Bytyçi, and only two months after his 69th birthday.
Built in order to serve the artistic community and youth, this house is an indicator of the great commitment to cultivate the production of culture in the Republic of Kosovo, as well as its aim is to provide the best infrastructural conditions and environment of suitable.
“This House of Culture, which will serve as a house of art and culture, will be available to all those who want to contribute to the enrichment of the cultural and social life of Suhareka”, said Prime Minister Kurti.
The functionalization of this new space has brought to life a building that is already one of the best centers in Kosovo in terms of space, function, and the opportunities it offers to the artistic community of the municipality of Suhareka and beyond.
Thanks to the investment of two parts in the amount of nearly 4 million euros from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports on the one hand, and with the cooperation of the Municipality of Suhareka on the other hand, it has been possible to finalize the spacious spaces of the House of Culture “Ukë Bytyçi”, which for all art lovers will offer opportunities to accommodate the activity of cultural institutions as well as the activities of artists and organizations from the independent cultural scene.
In this regard, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that this is a positive and appropriate example of the cooperation of central and local institutions for the benefit of our citizens.
“In football: the Balkans and Suhareka; in basketball: Golden Eagle Ylli; during the summer the city of Carnival; without wanting to mention the beautiful singing voices that come out of this place, I have to say that there was no way not to build this big and beautiful space for this city full of life and talent in Suharekë yours, in our Suharek”, were the words of Prime Minister Kurti, at the inauguration of the House of Culture.
In conclusion, he congratulated and congratulated all the participants and citizens of the Municipality of Suhareka, for the new building, and especially the artists, creators and the public of art and culture from Suhareka and beyond.

Today is a good and happy day and a pleasant evening for the citizens of Suhareka, and especially for artists, creators and the public of art and culture from Suhareka and beyond. We are inaugurating the House of Culture “Ukë Bytyçi”, a new building, started in 2017, with many years of deadlocks, but tonight it receives the proper and long-awaited epilogue by all of us. This House of Culture was inaugurated two months after the 69th birthday of Ukë Bytyçi, and one month before the 22nd anniversary of his cruel murder.
This building, which will serve the artistic community and youth, is not just a new space. It is an indication of our commitment to cultivate the production of culture in our Republic and to provide the best infrastructural conditions with a suitable environment. From now on, this House of Culture, which will serve as a house of art and culture, will be available to all those who wish to contribute to the enrichment of the cultural and social life of Suhareka, and therefore, together, we contribute to the construction of a richer society intellectually and spiritually.
