In today’s session of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo while there were discussions on approving of the Kosovo Budget 2012, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi responded to some ideas raised by some parliamentary groups favoring the suspension or slowing down of works on the construction of the Vërmicë-Merdarë motorway
“I would like to point out that neither suspension nor slowing down of works will be the case based on your reasoning that with the construction of the motorway there is no development and with other claims that the money should be allocated in other construction and development directions,” said Prime Minister Thaçi.
“The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has always meant and is determined to respect and implement its decisions that are in the interest of all the people of the country and which also reflect their will. We strongly believe that the highway represents hope, optimism, trust, development, human nature and emancipation of the state and all the citizens of Kosovo, it is the project that our citizens have missed so far – said Mr. Thaçi.
Expressing his trust that only the continuation according to the projected intensity of the construction of the Vërmicë-Merdarë highway means development, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi said that it is only through the construction of highways and implementation of such modern projects that the Republic of Kosovo will achieve sustainable economic development.
In today’s session of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi reiterated the commitment and determination of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to also launch the works on construction of the other major motorway, that of Prishtinë-Han i Elezit.
“We are at the final stage of reviewing all models on financing of another motorway that in the direction of Prishtina – Ferizaj – Kaçanik –Han i Elezit, therefore we will continue with the planned intensity to construct the Vërmicë-Prizren-Suharekë motorway in the direction of Orllatit-Prishtina and Merdarë,” said Prime Minister Thaçi and added that “if someone thinks that there is no development associated with the construction of motorways, I repeat that with the logic of narrow goat paths the Republic of Kosovo cannot have development.”
