In a joint press conference, right after the adoption of Serbia’s proposal for a Resolution by the UN General Assembly, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi and President Fatmir Sejdiu, expressed their stances on this latest development and assessed that the independence of Kosovo is irreversible and that the Kosovo state will enjoy more new recognitions.

Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi said that Kosovo has never expected nor will it ever expect a positive initiative from Serbia and emphasized that the reality of new recognitions of Kosovo’s independence will continue. The statements by the countries that have not yet recognized our independence expressed during the debate made it clear that this resolution will not hinder them to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

“The reality of new recognitions of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign country will be the best response to Belgrade, which will very soon be surprised and upset by new recognitions that will follow of the independence of Kosovo. With this initiative, Serbia has placed a heavy burden on its shoulders, which will impede its integration into European structures and in the end will turn into a boomerang for Serbia,” said Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi adding that this idea, as bad as it is for Kosovo, will also return as boomerang to Belgrade itself.
