Prishtina, 26 May 2009
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, accompanied by the Minister of Public Services, Arsim Bajrami; today visited Lipjan, where he was met by the head of the municipality, Shukri Buja, and his colleagues.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Thaçi visited the works on the new “Kongresi i Blinajës” and “Idriz Ajeti” roads, and he inspected, firsthand, the works being completed in the construction of the new “Vëllezërit Frashëri” elementary school in the Mustina Quarter of Lipjan.
[The following is the full statement of Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, after his visit to the construction sites in Lipjan].
I feel extremely encouraged by the great work being done in the Municipality of Lipjan. This work can be seen in the building of new schools, in the many kilometers of sewage and water systems, as well as in the modern road infrastructure.
These are investments for a better life for the people of Lipjan. They will change people’s lives. Lipjan is changing for the better; thanks to good governance, governance only in the service of the people. So this municipality will also have, like other municipalities, full support for all the good work it is doing.
These changes are apparent across Kosovo. Apart from its great success in the political sense, the first year of independence was also about economic development – the creation of new jobs, increasing social welfare, modernizing the country – thus creating a modern and democratic Kosovo.
In addition, I would like to emphasize that here, in the Municipality of Lipjan, we are dealing with a multi-ethnic municipality, and so we have invested not only in the areas where we are today, but also in areas where the Serb minority lives. These are comprehensive investments in the service of all the people and citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
For his part, the head of the Municipality of Lipjan, Shukri Buja, thanked Prime Minister Thaçi and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for supporting infrastructure projects in the Municipality of Lipjan.
Mr. Buja stated, “During 2008, 15 million euros were invested for this purpose. This demonstrates the good work of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and its commitment to ensuring better conditions for all the citizens of our country. I thank the Prime Minister for the assistance and support being given to the Municipality of Lipjan.”
