Prishtina, 25.11.2011

Following the inauguration of the new school building in the village of Runik in Skënderaj, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, answered some media queries related to the situation in the north of Kosovo where 21 KFOR soldiers got wounded on Wednesday.

Condemning the attack, Prime Minister Thaçi pointed out that the Government is not in conflict with the people, but with the illegal and parallel structures which will be brought to justice.

Prime Minister Thaçi reiterated his call for an end to the Belgrade influence on the citizens in the north.

“Their perspective is in Prishtina, in their integration in the central and local institutions. Prishtina does not intend to appoint their representatives; it just wants them to elect their local representatives to reflect the free will of the citizens there. We will continue to stand by them. Kosovo is our joint home and we should build it together,” said Prime Minister Thaçi.

Prime Minister Thaçi reiterated the determination of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to extend the rule of law also in that part of the territory so that there is freedom of movement for the people, democracy, new elections and economic investments.

This objective, said Prime Minister Thaçi will be achieved in close cooperation with the EULEX authorities, NATO, the European Union and the United States of America.
