Prime Minister Thaçi: Albania receiving the candidate status to join EU – encouragement and impetus for Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Kosovo

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, held its regular meeting, during which  adopted decisions under its scope of legal and constitutional responsibilities.

In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, congratulated Albania on the candidate status.

Allow me, once again to use the opportunity to congratulate the Republic of Albania, Prime Minister, Rama, and all political and social spectrum of Albania for their achievements in relation to gaining  Candidate status for membership in  European Union.

Undoubtedly this is a very good news, the best possible news for Albania, Kosovo and all Albanians.

I would like to congratulate all citizens of Albania, all Albanians on this historic success, and today every Albanian feel proud with this achievement.
 
In addition, allow me to reiterate that Kosovo, as a new state of great opportunities, recognized by 106 countries, is committed to work towards meeting the Euro-Atlantic standards to join NATO and the European Union as soon as possible.

EU and NATO membership is our aspiration, goal, vision, as well as our right.

I want to believe that by receiving candidate status for EU membership by Albania, it will be an encouragement and impetus for new Euro-Atlantic aspirations of the Republic of Kosovo.

Also, allow me to congratulate and commend all the institutions dealing with management of post electoral process, the CEC and all other mechanisms, on their performance in record time, in order to end this stage of the electoral process. Parliamentary Elections, held recently, are recognized as best, fair, free, democratic and most transparent since post war period.

The highest western standard is met. Currently we are expecting the certification of election results and the Constitutional Court feedback on the questions raised by the President of Kosovo, Mrs. Jahjaga, then the winning party and the coalition will begin to specifically work on the establishment of the new Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

During this meeting, Government of the Republic of Kosovo adopted four decisions, related to the  protection of potable water resources, located  in various municipalities of Kosovo.

The purpose of  these decisions is to protect water resources from negative impacts, which may damage the normal water state in terms of quality and quantity; ensure sustainable use for the benefit of public health, environmental protection and socio-economic development of Kosovo; and to determine the water resource protection zone.

According to decisions individualy, are defined the potable water resources protection areas “Wells ” in Banja, Malisheva; “Radesh River” in Radesh, Dragash; “Bunarllyk-Galeria 1 and Bunarllyk Galeria 2-and three new wells 1,2,3”;  and “40 bunarët”, the municipality of Prizren.

The Government of Kosovo appointed Mr.Lulzim Syla as Chief Inspector in Market Inspectorate, within the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
