Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi congratulated the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Sali Berisha, on his electoral victory on June 28, 2009.
Dear Prime Minister Berisha,
The successful conclusion of the elections of June 28, 2009 is a victory for Albanian democracy and demonstrates the elevated institutional culture of Albanian society in general.
Kosovo’s people and institutions have followed the phases of the electoral campaign with great interest and have been enthusiastic on the level of organization, the debate and the competitive performance which unfolded between all political parties.
The transparent campaign of these elections proves that Albania has entered into a high level of democracy, demonstrated by the supremacy of a spirit of peace, calm and mutual respect.
In the elections of June 28; the victor was the “Coalition for change”, giving you, honorable Prime Minister, another mandate to lead the Albanian state.
We have complete trust that you will lead a coalition government in the interest of all the people of Albania, protecting national unity and general stability, towards Albania’s successful Euro-Atlantic future.
After membership in NATO, Albania is on the path towards EU integration and we have full confidence that you will fulfill all the criteria in order to, as soon as possible, join the European Union.
On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and on my personal behalf, I have great honor and pleasure to congratulate you on your victory; guaranteeing you the everlasting cooperation of the Kosovo Government and its institutions, in the interest of our two countries, the region and beyond.
