Prime Minister of Government of Kosovo Mr. Hashim Thaçi met today with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Mr. Knut Vollebaek

The Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received in a meeting today the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Knut Vollebaek. The priorities of the Government of Kosovo and especially its efforts to integrate the minorities in Kosovo were on the focus of discussions during the meeting.
 
Prime Minister Thaçi briefed Mr. Vollebaek on the progress achieved by the institutions of Kosovo with regards to the implementation of the document by President Ahtisaari in terms of respecting and advancing the rights of the minority communities and on the work aiming at building a multiethnic and efficient society with fully integrated minorities.
 
“The transfer of the new responsibilities to the state institutions of Kosovo will increase our authority which will be extended throughout the entire territory of Kosovo,” said Mr. Thaçi adding that they will all be working to the benefit of the country in accordance with the European standards and criteria.
 
Prime Minister Thaçi expressed his readiness for close cooperation with the OSCE as an invited and welcomed mechanism also in the future processes in Kosovo.
 
The OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Knut Vollebaek, said that he hopes the Government of Kosovo will address all the issues linked to the minorities and will work on ensuring their full integration into the Kosovo society as the only way towards prosperity in Kosovo.
