Prime Minister Mustafa: Economic development is a priority of the Government of Kosovo

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, received on Wednesday in a farewell meeting the manager of the World Bank for Kosovo, Jan-Peter Olters.
Prime Minister Mustafa thanked for the work done, assessing the cooperation between institutions of Kosovo and the World Bank, during this period.
Prime Minister Isa Mustafa also expressed the interest of the Government for further cooperation especially in the energy sector, where the World Bank has been supporting the project “New Kosovo”.
Despite the political situation in the country, the Prime Minister said the government has worked quite a lot in the economy, informing Mr. Olters on the decision taken today by the Government to take the necessary steps to improve the environment for doing business.
“The government is interested to continue and enhance cooperation with international financial institutions like the World Bank, European Investment Bank, EBRD, IMF etc. Kosovo needs to identify the comparative advantages of the region and increase competition, and after signing the SAA with the EU countries to increase competitiveness and creating conditions for direct foreign investments. In this regard we move forward with the Law on strategic investment and we should work to advance the mining sector, “said Prime Minister Mustafa, adding that for the government, the economic development is the main goal, since the fundamental problems in Kosovo related unemployment.
World Bank Manager in Kosovo, Jan-Peter Olters expressed his satisfaction about the cooperation for more than four years in Kosovo, saying that during this period there has been some evident progress. He also said the Bank recognizes the important steps that have been achieved in the energy sector in the country, expressing his optimism for the future of Kosovo.
Olters also praised the fiscal stability, banking stability, and the fact that Kosovo has a young population with potential for further development, and stressed that resolving the obstacles in the energy sector would increase the potential for Kosovo for rapid development, since the Kosovo economy has many positive elements.
