Unable to physically participate in the opening of the Conference dedicated to Public Administration Reform, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, addressed the attendees through a video address.
Below you can find the complete address of Prime Minister Kurti:
Honorable Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Bardhyl Dobra,
Dear Ministers and Deputy Ministers, Members of Parliament and Public Administration Officials,
Dear ambassadors and former government officials,
Seniors and experts who came from all over Europe and the world,
I wish you the best for coming to the Second International Conference of Public Administration.
First, let me express my regret that I cannot be among you as I was last year, because some important meetings keep me these days in New York for the sake of the General Assembly of the United Nations and on the sidelines of to her.
Secondly, I would like to congratulate the continuation of this annual initiative by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the ministry which is pushing forward a comprehensive and ambitious reform to reform the public administration of the Republic of Kosovo.
Here I take the opportunity to reiterate that our goal is not and will never be to act against officials and civil servants or against the advice of friends of the European Union, as our democratic opposition tends to present.
In no way, because: to the former we have moral duties for the smooth running of their work and for the quality of services to citizens, while to the European Union we have political duties for the progress of the unstoppable process of regional integration and in the European Union. Above these tasks lies our ultimate goal that our public administration reform utilizes the full potential of the dedication and talents of the public administration to put them at the service of social progress and economic development of the Republic of Kosovo.
Thirdly, I note that these advances that are tangible today, as well as other achievements in the transformation of public administration that are expected in the coming years, would not be possible without the support of our European and international friends. Many of them brought us important strategic and foresight advice, and as they are here among you today at the University of Pristina, I congratulate and thank them for their valuable contribution.
Finally, making some analogy that shows how far from isolation the Republic of Kosovo is and how much it learns from the world, that is from the headquarters of the United Nations where I am now when you are listening to me, and in addition to the high expert friends who came to us from the region and the member countries of the European Union, I would especially like to wish you well to the friends who made a long journey to Pristina: thank you from South Africa, Armenia, Botswana, Brazil, Indonesia, Lebanon, Peru and Uganda. Without a doubt, your presence connects us in the future.
Once again, I thank the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but also the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora for their support, as well as the Faculty of Law of the University of Pristina for welcoming you these two days.
I wish you all good discussions and let’s learn as much as possible from each other.
