Prishtina, March 12, 2025
Honored guests,
Honored media representatives here in the hall,
Let me begin this meeting with a dedication to the photojournalist, Alban Bujari, who passed away at the end of the month we left behind. In the regular meeting before this, he was here, among you, among us, behind the cameras. On days like these, we notice and feel Alban’s absence the most. His legacy, his contribution, will always keep him alive. Condolences once again to the Bujari family, his friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace!
Honored Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and Deputy Ministers,
Honored employees of the Prime Minister’s Office,
Dear citizens,
Yesterday, we received very good news from our embassy in Germany. After more than 17 years, a solution has been reached with the relevant German authorities regarding the issue of registration of Kosovo citizens. Many compatriots have been unjustly forced to register as citizens of Serbia in German documentation, something that will no longer happen.
I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, which has worked with dedication to negotiate and secure this important and much-needed change. Thanks to their engagement with the Federal Chancellery of Germany and the relevant ministries, an instruction has now been adopted that ensures that all citizens of Kosovo are registered only as citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. This change has entered into force in all German federal states and over 5,200 Civil Registry centers.
Therefore, our esteemed compatriots in Germany, we call on you to verify and, if necessary, correct the citizenship registration in your documents. For any assistance or additional information, please contact our embassy in Berlin or the consular missions in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich or Stuttgart.
We thank our friendly and partner country Germany for solving this problem.
We continue to work together to ensure the respect and recognition of the rights of our citizens everywhere in the world!
Dear colleagues from the government cabinet,
Dear journalists,
During this mandate, including the decisions in this meeting, our government has approved a total of 2,226 decisions, in the first full four-year mandate, which if we count 880 working days – this means two and a half decisions per day. Of these decisions, 319 have been approvals of draft laws and we have undoubtedly witnessed a high level of legislative and executive activity under our government, with a strong focus on policy implementation and developmental and democratic governance.
In front of us, we have 23 proposed decisions at today’s meeting. Among them, of particular importance will be the consideration of the initiative for concluding a Framework Agreement for cooperation in the field of defense between our country and the United States of America. With this agreement, we will commit to advancing mutual cooperation in defense planning, strategic sustainability and building strategic military capabilities. Our Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, will speak more about this at the press conference after the meeting. Alongside Minister Maqedonci, it will be our Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi, who has two important points today, which relate to cross-border cooperation with Albania and Montenegro within the framework of IPA 2 and 3 funds. And within the framework of international cooperation, our Republic will further advance its relations with the United Kingdom in the legal field with three initiatives, and the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, will inform us more about these during the meeting.
Thank you!
