The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed for the fourth time in as many years, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude to President von der Leyen for her commitment to Kosovo and the Western Balkans, which is evidenced by frequent visits and meetings during her leadership and vocal advocacy for complete integration of the region into the European Union.

“Congratulations on your new mandate. We count a lot on your leadership, both in the expansion of the European Union and in its strengthening on the world stage”, Prime Minister Kurti said at the beginning of the meeting.

Speaking about the Kosovo Reforms Agenda, the Prime Minister emphasized that it has five priority areas, foresees 30 reforms and 111 steps to address the main issues of our economy, which include energy security, employment, attracting foreign investments and the formalization of work and economy. He said that we are ready and committed to implement the reforms as soon as possible and to benefit as much as possible from the available financial support, which amounts to 882 million euros.

In this meeting, the prime minister reiterated the importance of the complete and immediate removal of the measures against Kosovo and obtaining the candidate status of the European Union, as a merit that is reflected in Kosovo’s steadfast commitment to European integration and reforms, and the economic development and democratic progress that has scored in recent years.
