The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today welcomed the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, who is making his first official visit to the Republic of Kosovo.
“We are grateful for Bulgaria’s support at crucial times for our country and our people, including in 1999 when you opened the skies for the NATO bombing campaign that stopped the genocide of Serbia and closed it for the malicious intent of Russia and dangerous action, not only for Kosovo. I thank Bulgaria for its continuous support for our membership in international organizations, integration in the EU, the Council of Europe and regional cooperation, including the Berlin Process. It is a great pleasure to have you here, welcome.” said the prime minister at the beginning of the meeting.
For his part, President Radev said that: “We have come here with a clear mission: to deepen our friendship and relations in all possible areas of common interest, and to encourage and support you in your efforts for the development of Kosovo, as a modern, democratic, independent and fully integrated state in the international community system.”
The Prime Minister added that our two countries and our two peoples have a common history in the Balkans and a common future in the European Union where our country has applied and aspires to be a member. He emphasized the importance of increasing cooperation, especially in the field of economy where we can and should do more, as well as in the field of defense and security, through joint trainings. The field of ICT was also mentioned, where we have great potential, talented and resourceful young people and where we are exporters of important services.
President Radev reiterated that Bulgaria is a friendly country of the Republic of Kosovo and that he is interested in increasing and deepening bilateral cooperation, highlighting the energy, education and tourism sectors.
In the meeting, the opening of the Kosovo-Bulgaria Chamber of Commerce this June, as well as the planning of holding the joint Economic Forum next year, was appreciated as a good opportunity to increase economic relations.
